Happy Birthday

Linda Carson, Verve

Hello!  Today I took some Cosmo Cricket papers and made a card using this week's Deconstructing Jen's sketch with a Verve sentiment.
The embellishment came with the papers.  I normally don't use those but this one worked just fine especially since I didn't like what I originally had in mind.
I have a little tip of something I do.  When I use a sketch that I like from a challenge I'll sketch it out in a notebook.  After making the card I'll go back and measure the length and width of each element, square, etc. and jot those on the sketch in the notebook.  This way the next time I make a card using the sketch it's a breeze to come together.  I hope all that made sense and may be something you might try.
Thanks for dropping by!  Enjoy your day!

Surely Goodness

Hi friends!  Welcome back on this wet Monday!  It's the perfect day to create.  Today's card is for "Tag You're It" October's Diva Dare challenge with Verve Stamps.  You just need to create something inspired by a tag.
I used the Verve set Surely Goodness.  The paper is Baby Jane by Cosmo Crickett.  The flowers are popped up for dimension.  I used an older Mojo sketch.
Hope you'll join me tomorrow for Shining the Light with Our Daily Bread Designs challenge!  Have a creative week!

Happy Birthday

Blessing to you this Sunday!  I'm playing along with the Verve Diva Dare this month.  The dare is to make a card using stripes and stars.  I went for a bright birthday card using a sentiment from Verve's Surely Goodness set.  The pennant die is also from Verve.
Sketch is from this week's Mojo Challenge.  The paper is American Crafts.  Stars are Sizzix.

Zephaniah 3:17

Good Monday to you!  Today's card is in celebration of the 100th sketch at Deconstructed Sketch.  You have until Wednesday to join in the fun.
I love this scripture.  I've experienced God quieting me with His love but to think He rejoices over me with singing is amazing!  I wonder what He sings?  Of course everything God does amazes me.
Since there is singing involved I stamped a background of music notes with Brilliance gold ink using a stamp from Purple Onion Designs.  It's very soft yet the gold sparkles through.  It is then embossed with the fish from Our Daily Bread designs.  The paper is In Bloom from My Mind's Eye.
My Favorite Things and Martha Stewart add the embellished die cuts.
Thanks for visiting!  Enjoy your day!

Thank You

Welcome back on this sunny Tuesday!  Today's thank you card is for my husband to give to his sister.  He recently had a birthday and she brought over supper with dessert!  I think that deserves a huge thanks!
The card fits this month's Verve Diva Dare.  The challenge is to combine the creative styles of diva Charmaine and diva Marisa.  That means you use bright colors (love it) with flowers and a butterfly or two.
I used two different sets of Verve stamps along with their die cut of the "U".  The leaves are Sizzix, doily is Quikutz, butterfly is Martha Stewart and the paper is American Craft.  The "U" has pop dots.  A bit of crooked stitching and center bling in the flowers completes the look.
A huge thank you for stopping by!  Have a creative day!

Hollyhocks

Greetings!  I hope your weekend was fabulous!  It's time for another Mojo Monday sketch challenge.  Last time I entered with 20 minutes to spare.  Today's record entry will be 40 minutes to spare!!  I'm so proud!  Guess my mojo doesn't kick in until the last minute.  Surely it's not procrastination...
I used the hollyhocks set from Flourishes.  The sentiment is Verve.  The papers are a mixture of what was in front of me at the time.  They include My Mind's Eye, maybe some Echo Park and Memory Box.
I appreciate you spending time with me today and leaving such encouraging comments!

Goodness and Mercy

Verve is having a challenge called Diva Dare.  You combine the styles of Diva Laurie of Just Give Me Stamps with Diva Maureen of Buttons and Bling.  This was fun!  I admire their artwork.  I've been stalking following Laurie forever although ours styles are miles apart.
Both ladies share in style with stitching, distressing, buttons or bling and ribbon or twine.  This is what I came up with using the Verve set Surely Goodness.  The papers are from My Mind's Eye.
You still have time to enter so check it out.
Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

I heart You

When I came across this Valentine paper from Webster's Pages I knew immediately what I would design with it.  I've been wanting to use the "i" and "u" dies I just purchased from Verve.
The heart die is Spellbinders.  The texture on top of the heart is magic mesh.  I placed it on the paper before running the die through the Big Shot.  It came out with clean edges.  I really like the look and texture.
The background and frame cardstock is metallic so there is a golden sparkle added to the over all look.
I heart you for spending a moment with me today and especially when you leave a comment!

Psalm 63

Welcome!  I finally made a card!  I switched gears a bit from Valentine's to scriptures.  However, these verses could easily be used as a love letter to the Lord.  Maybe I should add some hearts.
The patterned papers are Webster's Pages.  The pearls are from Michael's.
Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy your Friday!!

Heart You

Can you believe it's time to make Valentine's cards already?  Gee whiz time does fly!  Flourishes is celebrating their monthly release with a Love theme.  You still have time to join in the love.
I used this week's Mojo sketch.  The rose heart stamp is Flourishes and the "you" stamp is Verve.  Martha Stewart supplied the papers.  I stitched the two hearts together, added crushed velvet ribbon, a bow and a couple of valentine rhinestones.
I heart you all for visiting and leaving such encouraging comments!!

Thinking of You

Hi creative friends!  I had great plans last week of creating tons of cards.  My husband went camping with his brothers for 4 nights and 5 days.  You know what that means ladies....freedom!  No cooking, etc!
I go in my small stamp room and suddenly it gets smaller with a couple of dogs at my feet!  I think they just wanted to foil my plans.  Remember I have an 8 month old puppy who is still not 100% house broken.  It was at that time I started to miss my husband.....and cooking.
This card was for a sketch challenge but I didn't make it on time.  I wonder why?  By the way, this was the only card I made while hubby was camping.
The bird stamp is by JustRite.  The sentiment is Verve.  Patterned paper is Webster's Pages.  The red branches are Spellbinders.
Thanks for letting me vent.  I feel better now.  Anyone want a couple of dogs for the weekend?

Psalm 19:14

Verve is celebrating their 5th Anniversary with several challenges and a sale.  I used their Meditations set on this card which is currently 40% off.
One of the benefits of using scriptures is while making the card you can memorize the verse.  Even though I know this verse I don't always remember where the verse is found in the Bible.
The sketch is a challenge with Sketchy Colors.  I used Basic Grey's pb&j papers.  Martha Stewart provided the border punch and the shadow underneath.  The corner punch is Sizzix.  A bit of stitching and a pearl inside the cross completes the card.
     Thanks for visiting!

Blossom

Hope you've caught up on sleep this Sunday afternoon!!  Losing sleep is never a good thing since I need all the beauty sleep I can get!
Today's card is for this week's Verve Mojo sketch challenge.  I really like their sketches.  The stamp used is a plain jane from Verve.  I noticed it is on sale.  They also have several plain jane scripture verses.
I used a Cherry Lynn die for the top oval.  I can't believe how lucky I got cutting it out and got a beautiful red design right in the middle!!  The paper is Picadilly by Basic Grey.  MFT dies were used for the flowers and leafy flourish.  A few red  pearls and an embossing folder finish it off.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Jeremiah 33:3

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend!  This Sunday I have a card that features a stamp by Verve and also a sketch that you can find at the Verve Forum on SCS.
While shopping at Michael's I found these gorgeous papers by My Mind's Eye called Ooh La La.  The title fits the papers!  Also, there were these unique embellishments by K&Co. that matched the paper.  I was in ooh la la heaven!
You know this card is simple but since you came by take a second and think about this scripture.  It's a promise from God!

Psalm 3:3

Hello friends and thank you for stopping by today!  This card was made for a sketch challenge at Card Patterns.  I must admit I've been struggling creative wise the past few days.  I would start with a sketch and it didn't work.  I would start with paper and it didn't work.  You get the idea.  I just had to walk away since nothing was working and I wasn't having fun.
Even this sketch was giving me fits at first.  Then, while taking a shower, I knew what I wanted to do and ta-da it worked!!  Finally!  Who knew all I had to do was take a shower!!
The paper is Basic Grey.  The scripture stamp is by Verve and the flower is from Flourishes.
Hope you have a day filled with sunshine!

Be My Valentine

This evening I have a Valentine's Day card to share.  Can you believe only 10 days until Valentine's Day?  That means some serious stamping is in order!
Flourishes' February release is next week and they are giving us an opportunity to win the entire release!  Got my attention!  The challenge is to use black, white and one other color.  So needing Valentine's Day cards I chose red.
The sketch I used is from PaperTake Weekly.  The heart roses are Flourishes and the sentiment is a digital stamp from Verve.  I colored with Copics and dressed it up with a few pearls and puffed red valentine hearts.
Your thoughtful comments make my heart happy!!  Hugs!

In My Prayers

Hello Friends!  I'm still working on cards for Hope You Can Cling To on SCS.  You still have time to participate.  The challenges end Monday.
The sketch for this card is from Verve.  The sentiment is a Verve stamp.  Paper is Webster's Pages and the flower is Prima.  I airbrushed the flower to work better with the paper.  The card size is 4 1/2 squared.
Short and sweet today.  Hope you have a beautiful day!

You Make Me Smile

Looks like it's been awhile since my last post.  Shame on me!  I've been stamping but not blogging.  Shame again!
All month long on SCS it's all about Hope You Can Cling To for breast cancer awareness.  I entered this card in one of the challenges.
This card as well as others will be sent to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.  Visitors will be able to use them for patients.
Several years ago I lost my husband to cancer.  Three years ago his daughter died of cancer.  She was a patient of MD Anderson.  Mailing a few cards is the least I can do to encourage someone else going through this disease.
I used a sketch from Verve.  The stamps are also Verve.  Paper is My Mind's Eye.  The crochet basket is Webster's Pages.
Thanks for coming by!  Your comments make me smile and are truly appreciated!
